The Hole-in One Golf Society Irish Branch was started in Ireland in 1983 by Richard & Angela Crockford. It was run as a business, Entrance fee was £40.00, there was also an annual subscription.

In 1985 the structure changed from a professionally run society to one run by the members for members.  It was agreed the Society would be called Hole-in One Golf Society Ireland.

Paul Egan was elected the first Captain with Helen Barrett as Vice Captain.  Since that time the captaincy rotates between male and female each year. The constitution of the Society dictates a membership limit of ninety, forty-five women and forty-five men.  There are seven outings each year in high quality golf courses which are chosen in locations to facilitate the membership.  Outings consist of members and invited guests.
